Harvard University

Harvard University is a private Ivy League research university in Cambridge,Massachusetts, established in 1636. Its history, influence and wealth have made it one of the most prestigious universities in the world.
About the admission process, applicants from outside the United States go through the same admissions process as American students, it doesn't categorize individual applicants in such a way.  It has no quotas of any kind for admission, all applications are evaluated by the same holistic criteria, and financial aid is equally available to all students regardless of citizenship.
"International admissions" are generally referring to applicants who apply from schools outside the United States. In general, if we are applying from a school abroad, we will follow the same procedures and timetables as candidates applying from schools located in the United States.

Once you are admitted to Harvard, the university will work closely with our family to ensure we can afford to come here. Harvard seeks the best students regardless of their ability to pay, it is committed to meeting 100 percent of demonstrated financial need for all four years. International students receive exactly the same financial aid as Americans. In fact, approximately 70 percent of our students receive some form of aid, and about 60 percent receive need–based scholarships and pay an average of $12,000 per year. Twenty percent of parents pay nothing. No loans required.
It has two key principles:

  • Admission to Harvard is need-blind, meaning your financial need will not impede your chances of admission.
  • Aid is based entirely on need, not merit.
Harvard's financial aid officers work closely with our family to determine our demonstrated need and our family’s expected contribution. For many families, this is between zero and 10 percent of family income. We will also be asked to contribute to the cost of your education through term-time and summer employment.

My dream job

People ask me where will I go after high school. Well I always say I want to go to college. Being a great accountant.
But I dont want to be just an accountant. I also want to have a kind of sidejob. I want to be a designer. I want to make my own label with many branches here and there. Attending a lot of fashion shows, meet a lot of famous designer. Designing for a lot of fashion icon. I dont know where are these ideas come from because I never ever thinking about to be a designer. It comes naturally it was when I walked at the mall, saw many clothes, mix&match then tried them on even though I didnt buy it😂 thats the time when I forgot of all my problems and homeworks😂 and i like it when people ask me what to wear or how do they look or this is match or not, i feel happy when they love my choice. then it continues time after time and I think maybe this is what makes me happy, I think that will be great.

Peace

I See Humans, But No Humanity - massimofabrizio.tumblr.com

According to Wikipedia, Peace is a period of harmony between different social groups that is characterized by lack of violence or conflict behaviors, and the freedom from fear of violence. It means that peace is where everyone love and care of each other, respecting their differences.
I thought we all want peace. But sometimes the ego come and ruin it all. We feel like we were better than anyone else, prettier, smarter, richer, or more deserve an honor. This was why racist or discrimination came. Like we all saw the black and white racism, where the black became a slave with the white as the boss. They (the white) tortured the black with no heart. Or how hard is it, as a moslem, with a veil, to get a job in some country. Worst, people sometimes equalize moslem with terrorist which is very pathetic and mean.

"I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality...I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.
 - Rev. Dr. Martin LutherKing, Jr.

The quote above told us that we can't live in racism to others. And how hard is it to reach a peace because of racism and war. This quote encourages us to love and respect each other. Everyone have its own speciality that you can't change. We just have to respect and everything will be fine. Difference makes better.

Chairman of Student Council

Being a chairman of a student council is an honor that have to be appreciated. We can have more friends, more experience, and obviously more popular because the whole entire school will know who we are. Somehow, a chairman has a huge responsibility of everything they lead on. Everyone can be a leader, but only the good one can lead us to the better condition. There are some criteria I want to see in a chairman of student council.

The chairman should be have a good looking. You don't need to have a handsome/pretty face or wear cool outfit. We don't need a muscular one. You just have to be a clean and neat person. Be spry and ready in every moment so we can trust our student council on you. Act like you are good enough to be a chairman, to lead us.

The chairman should be a smart one. You don't need to have an A in every subject, just be an open-minded and a wise one. You have to improve your communication skill too, just be a friendly but still firm person.

We can conclude that being a chairman must be good in their look, act, and behaviour. It's not that easy to fulfill that all condition, but the proper one can do that all.

Uncle Gober

A few months ago, my school had an event which was a kind of riding bike together. the name was PAMAN GOBER. Why? It was taken from the sentence "Penanaman Pohon dan Gowes Bersama". We started from 7 a.m. At first the plan was dividing us into 2 groups, one who was riding along from school then go back to school. The second will ride along then stopped at the planned place to plant a tree together. At first it went nicely but then we were seperated into some tiny groups because of traffic lights, mostly. I was with about 10 other friends, stopped in Jl. Riau, confused where do we have to go. So then we were waiting hoping another bikers came. But then after a long time we chose to go to school. After that there were the finale of Dewa Athena, our sports event. My class won in dodgeball, table-tennis, and "tarik tambang". I am so proud of my class. After all that would be such a great event if the organizer did their job better. But i can say that event was unforgettable, so i have no regret.

My truly role model.

My teacher told me to have an interview with someone who inspires me and post it on my blog.
I never interviewed this person before, officially. But this person is one of a kind, he's my father.
His name is Ayi Wahid. live in the village, he was born from two farmers with 10 children. he's the last child. there were only two of them who was going to school. My grandfather told him to help him at the rice field, but then he said that he wants to be like other kids, go to school. So then he went to elementary school with his limitedness. uniform, books, and bag, they were all secondhand from his neighbour. but then he never whining why and how, he just went through it with happiness.
I remember the part when my dad told me the time when he got home, There was only 'sambal' in the table. No rice or side dishes. He took it and go to the farm near his house, He pluck some kind of leaves called 'lalapan' and eat them in that yard. He told me it was clean that time. no car or motorcycle, no industry, so we dont have to worry about its freshness.
In the afternoon he always went playing with any other kid. Play football in the field, got dirt, jump to the river and carried away of the flow, that were his games.
If the did anything wrong, my grandfather ran chasing him and he jump to the Citarum river and got carried away so my grandfather could not catch him.
In the middle school, he started to change his habit. He studied a lot. He always had great score in Math and Physics. when the examinations came, he always being a tutor for his friends.
Afterschool, when everyone got free to play guitar, band, or something, he locked himself in his room, with the limited light, he always study until night. For references, he always borrowed his brother's textbooks that was in the high school. Only got rest when praying or dinner, if there was a dinner.
But then it all payed off. He got great score on the national exam. His uncle in Bandung told him to go to Bandung and study there. Without knowing where and how Bandung was, with a few cash, he went there to get a better life.
Got in Bandung, he didn't know where high school he wanted to enter. His uncle recommended him to apply in SMAN 2 Bandung. He applied and accepted. Among his new friends, he didn't know anything, even about sausages, he didn't know it at all.
He got accepted in Mathematics Faculty in UNPAD. He got a lot of scholarships to fulfill his needs.
Again, he got a high score when he graduated.
His journey didn't stop, he went throught every hard times, ups and downs. I know it's hard for my dad when my mom passed away (even now he got married again and I'm happy for him) and he got a work termination from his office. I remember when he went to Jakarta to get a job, he always called me on the phone and I always ask for anything like Peterpan's CD, or Ungu's, and he bought me a-5000-CD, but I still got happy. He always told me to study hard and he always put his lips on my head and pray for me everytime he have to go. If I made mistakes, he didn't do anything but starred at me and goggling his eyes, that was scary.
But I know exactly why he did that. To make me be a better girl,
I'm so glad to have a kind of dad like him. He told me that money and glamorous don't make us people, they are determination and willingness who make us. We have to be brave and be careful at time same time, we have to work hard and pray at time same time, and we have to be happy and grateful at the same time.

Yellow - Coldplay

I want to talk about one song and i'm sure you know about this song. it's called Yellow by Coldplay.
Yellow was a song in their debut album, Parachutes (2000). The song's lyrics are a reference to band vocalist Chris Martin's unrequited love.

The history of making this song was so simple. One night after finishing recording "Shiver", the lead single of the album, the band took a break and went out of the studio. Outside, there were few lights on and the stars in the sky. He told the band to look at the stars, which they did. Vocalist Chris Martin was inspired by the sight and the song's main melody At first, Martin did not take it seriously, but then Martin's idea worked out when he had developed the tempo of the verse. When guitarist Jonny Buckland started playing it and supplemented it with his ideas, they had created the riff.
, consisting of a chord pattern, popped into his head.
While composing the song's lyrics, Martin could not find the right words. He was thinking of a specific word, which he deemed a missing key word in the lyrics, to fit the song's concept. He looked around the studio and found the telephone directory Yellow Pages, which happened to be situated nearest to him. Martin later titled the song "Yellow" as a reference to the directory. The lyrics progressed from there with the band collaborating. Bassist Guy Berryman came up with the opening line "Look at the stars". That night, having quickly composed the song, the band recorded it.

For me this song was so nice. The lyrics is simple but yet meaningful.

Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And everything you do,
Yeah, they were all yellow.

I came along,
I wrote a song for you,
And all the things you do,
And it was called "Yellow".

So then I took my turn,
Oh what a thing to have done,
And it was all yellow.

Your skin,
Oh yeah your skin and bones,
Turn into
Something beautiful,
You know,
You know I love you so,
You know I love you so.

I swam across,
I jumped across for you,
Oh what a thing to do.
'Cause you were all yellow,

I drew a line,
I drew a line for you,
Oh what a thing to do,
And it was all yellow.

Your skin,
Oh yeah your skin and bones,
Turn into
Something beautiful,
And you know,
For you I'd bleed myself dry,
For you I'd bleed myself dry.

It's true,
Look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine for,
Look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine.

Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And all the things that you do.

Aurora Borealis

An aurora is a natural light display in the sky (from the Latin word aurora, "sunrise" or the Roman goddess of dawn), predominantly seen in the high latitude (Arctic and Antarctic) regions. Auroras are caused by charged particles, mainly electrons and protons, entering the atmosphere from above causing ionisation and excitation of atmospheric constituents, and consequent optical emissions. Incident protons can also produce emissions as hydrogen atoms after gaining an electron from the atmosphere.
A full understanding of the physical processes which lead to different types of auroras is still incomplete, but the basic cause involves the interaction of the solar wind with the Earth’s magnetosphere. The varying intensity of the solar wind produces effects of different magnitudes, but includes one or more of the following physical scenarios.

  1. A quiescent solar wind flowing past the Earth’s magnetosphere steadily interacts with it and can both inject solar wind particles directly onto the geomagnetic field lines that are ‘open’, as opposed to being ‘closed’ in the opposite hemisphere, and provide diffusion through the bow shock. It can also cause particles already trapped in the radiation belts to precipitate into the atmosphere. Once particles are lost to the atmosphere from the radiation belts, under quiet conditions new ones replace them only slowly, and the loss-cone becomes depleted. In the magnetotail, however, particle trajectories seem constantly to reshuffle, probably when the particles cross the very weak magnetic field near the equator. As a result, the flow of electrons in that region is nearly the same in all directions ("isotropic"), and assures a steady supply of leaking electrons. The leakage of electrons does not leave the tail positively charged, because each leaked electron lost to the atmosphere is replaced by a low energy electron drawn upward from the ionosphere. Such replacement of "hot" electrons by "cold" ones is in complete accord with the 2nd law of thermodynamics. The complete process, which also generates an electric ring current around the Earth, is uncertain.
  2. Geomagnetic disturbance from an enhanced solar wind causes distortions of the magnetotail ("magnetic substorms"). These ‘substorms’ tend to occur after prolonged spells (hours) during which the interplanetary magnetic field has had an appreciable southward component. This leads to a higher rate of interconnection between its field lines and those of Earth. As a result, the solar wind moves magnetic flux (tubes of magnetic field lines, ‘locked’ together with their resident plasma) from the day side of Earth to the magnetotail, widening the obstacle it presents to the solar wind flow and constricting the tail on the night-side. Ultimately some tail plasma can separate ("magnetic reconnection"); some blobs ("plasmoids") are squeezed downstream and are carried away with the solar wind; others are squeezed toward Earth where their motion feeds strong outbursts of auroras, mainly around midnight ("unloading process"). A geomagnetic storm resulting from greater interaction adds many more particles to the plasma trapped around Earth, also producing enhancement of the "ring current". Occasionally the resulting modification of the Earth's magnetic field can be so strong that it produces auroras visible at middle latitudes, on field lines much closer to the equator than those of the auroral zone.
  3. Acceleration of auroral charged particles invariably accompanies a magnetospheric disturbance that causes an aurora. This mechanism, which is believed to predominantly arise from wave-particle interactions, raises the velocity of a particle in the direction of the guiding magnetic field. The pitch angle is thereby decreased, and increases the chance of it being precipitated into the atmosphere. Both electromagnetic and electrostatic waves, produced at the time of greater geomagnetic disturbances, make a significant contribution to the energising processes that sustain an aurora. Particle acceleration provides a complex intermediate process for transferring energy from the solar wind indirectly into the atmosphere.

People work hard recently. Man or woman, they work day and night for their needs.
Do they have time to wash their favorite shoes?
I guess they must be too tired.
So I'm thinking about to make a kind of inovation from a laundry.

Come and feel the satisfaction!

Let's See What I've Got This Holiday...

This holiday, I didn’t come anywhere because my dad was so busy with his job and my mom was sick. So I spent my one week with finished my collage project. This might be look standard, or somehow, bad. But, I am so happy with my “creature”.

Well, at Sunday, January 4th, I went to Grafika Cikole with my friends to do our English project. We made a “Snow White and The Huntsman”’s short movie. We rented a little cottage there and we also rented a costume for Snow White, the Queen, the magic mirror, and properties for the Huntsman. It should be 9 of us but one of us didn’t come so we were just 8, 6 girls and 2 boys. We started to take a shoot at about 2 p.m, then sadly the boys should go home at 6 p.m., so there were 6 girls only in that cottage, lil bit creepy but what should we do?

the view
Our cottage

So after Maghrib we went out of the cottage and looked for something to eat. And we only found fried rice. I got something to learned about.  The fried rice was 12k rupiah and 15k rupiah if you want additional egg. Two of my friends pay together and the total was 27k. they paid, and the seller said “how much the change?”, so we replied “23 thousand”. And when I wanted to pay for mine, it was 15k rupiah. I gave the seller 50k. you must see how he (the seller), count for change. He made 50k into fractions of 10k and 5k. he took the 15k, and the rest, he gave it to me.

sorry for the bad ilustration.

It was so sad how this man couldn’t count well. Maybe it’s not only him, maybe some of people in that area do the same as he did. Alhamdulillah I still have spirit and money (from my parents of course) to go to school.

When After ate, we go back to the cottage and made a camp fire, and we finished our shoot. We finished it at about 11.30 p.m and it was so exhausting. The next day we took for some scene and we laid in our bed because we were so tired. At 10 a.m. we checked out early and we took some photos until about 11 a.m. the we went back to Bandung by Chacha’s car. We put in SMA 3 and in there I was took by my junior high’s friend to go to Jonas Banda. In there we were take photo with our pinky jersey.

We are called "K.I.B", we were had an idea to made that jersey because we often have a 'futsal' match, and alhamdulillah we always win :')

In January 9th, me and K.I.B made a birthday surprise for the four of us. They were Uli, Davy, Rasyid, and Kukuh. Davy was had a birthday in Desember 29th, Davy in Desember 31st, Rasyid in January 9th, and Kukuh in January 12th (we celebrate him early xD).

SO SORRY FOR MY FACE XD

I don't know how I could tell you this but i'm so in love with them. We were busy struggling for the national exam but i dont know, we still had time to be together, we spent our time even it was just a kind of 'botram' at break time in front of the class, changed the class into the karaoke room and we sang together. We have had our smile, laugh, anger, tears, tired, we through it all. it was only a year with them but it feels like i've been know them all since i was a baby :")

ok back to my journal...

In January 10th, I went to Hanamasa with those thingy. The boy in the center, he 's Rasyid. Yes, the birthday boy. He treated us, Thanks, bud.

And yes, if you finished read this, it means my journal has done.
